Congratulations to the winners of DWC's Winter Story Competition! Meet the students behind them, and be sure to check out their stories if you haven't already.
First Place: "Gone Fishing", by Ami Wong
Ami Wong is currently a first-year at Duke University majoring in either English or Creative Writing, depending on how unemployable she decides to be. She is from Rockville, Maryland, in the DC Metro Area. In her free time, Ami likes to read, watch Netflix, or scroll through Instagram while claiming to be researching for future writing.
Runner-up: "Pieces", by Jake Wong
Jake is a junior from a small suburb just outside Atlanta. He finds writing always hard but usually worthwhile. For inspiration, he likes to indulge in quotes from Goodreads and comfort food from Happy China. He is so grateful to his loving friends and family for their community, and to the Writer’s Collective for providing one to share stories.
Runner-up: "Letter to My Mother", by Greta Chen
Greta is your typical econ major except that she would rather be writing poetry and painting landscapes instead of interpreting regression outputs. She tends to overanalyze everything and use daydreaming as a coping mechanism. You can find her on campus drinking too much chai or photographing the Chapel.
